I need to go to the doctor or to the hospital emergency department.
General rule
The Insurer reimburses the covered medical costs after the allowance refunded by health fund of the insured person or other Insurance contract.
Pratically
- Please verify before your departure if your basic mutual healthcare cover effectively offers reimbursement of medical costs made in your country of destination.
- If NO: ask them a written confirmation that you will add to your file to AIG.
- If YES: send all proof of payment of the bills to your parents so they can manage their reimbursement with their basic mutual healthcare cover.
- You pay directly and fully the medical costs (medication/ consultation / radiography)
- Fill in the general claims form AIG and don’t forget to mention:
- The n° of your insurance policy AIG mentioned on the document you received by mail after on line payment.
- The full bank account number Iban and BIC code where the repayment can be made.
- Set up 2 files (one for AIG and a copy for You) containing:
- the 'general claims form '
- the details of the costs (original bills and/or scans)

I need a medical treatment involving hospitalisation (overnight or one day clinic).
Please follow these steps:
- First, contact AIG Assistance (24/7multilingual call center):

- Prepare the following information:
- Insurance number which is listed on the insurance certificate you received by email after payment
- Valid identification and contact details of emergency contacts.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Upon your hospital admission, formally ask AIG Assistance to make AIG confirm to the hospital that it will support the direct payment of hospital charges. AIG Assistance will help you in all these procedures. For all other medical services unrelated to hospitalisation follow the procedure above scenario (I need to go to the doctor or to the hospital emergency department).
